1973 Gottlieb BIG SHOT pinball machine fully shopped working FREE SHIPPING
This pinball machine is in excellent, fully working, fully shopped condition. See my standard text below to see what “fully Shopped” means to me. The game is on free play. All 2 players work perfectly. The game really plays very well and looks amazing. The switched light bulbs under the playfield (insert lights) have been replaced with new LED bulbs, as have the switched lights behind the backglass. All the other lights (general illumination) are original incandescent bulbs, which look better and more authentic on a game from this era. I used colored LEDs to match the colors of the pool balls in the center bonus section. I have to say this is really a fun game with good rules and good play. I’m really tempted to keep this and operate it in my Pinball Museum. Let me know if you want more pictures – I can send you a link. They won’t let me put the link in the listing for some reason. I took a movie of it working, look here. CONDITION and RATINGS for THIS SPECIFIC MACHINE. Not mint, but definitely above average. The playfield really has very little wear. It looks really great. The plastics are basically perfect. I can’t find a flaw on them anywhere, but I gave them a 9.5 in case you find one. The backglass is in good, presentable condition, but does have very light flaking around the middle. Otherwise it is very nice. The coin door is very nice and looks great. The cabinet looks very good, but is a little worn and has been touched up to make it look better. I didn’t think they were necessary as it’s on free play, but if you want just let me know. The game has its original back door. If you need any more pictures or have any questions, please let me know – I’m happy to answer. PLAYFIELD PLASTICS: 9.5/10. When we shop a pinball, here is what that includes. 1 Removed most everything from the playfield. 2 Clean, wax, and polish entire playing surface. 3 Replace all above-playfield light bulbs with new original bulbs. 4 Replace all below-playfield light bulbs with new LED matching colored bulbs. 5 Replace all rubbers with new ones. 6 Re-install all above playfield plastics and hardware after thorough cleaning. 7 Remove backglass, replace all switched bulbs with LEDs and make sure all others are working. 8 Clean all score reels. 9 Make sure all features of pinball are working properly. 10 Scrub, clean, and touch up cabinet to the best of our limited ability. 11 Install locks on front and back door. 12 Install new ball(s). There are probably a few other things we do, but that’s the gist of it. Yes, I do make sure everything is working before listing it, to the best of my ability. However, I need to point out a few things about this. 1 EM Pinballs can be flaky. They function by the use of dozens of relays with literally hundreds or thousands of tiny leaf switches. These switches are now at a minimum 43 years old, and often older. They have oxidation on their contacts and are simply imperfect. They are not like a transistor that either works or doesn’t. The worst thing you can do to an EM pinball machine (well maybe not the worst, but the worst un-intentional thing) is to leave it for a year without playing it. They need to be played fairly regularly, and the more you play one, the better it will function. It keeps the little switches working right. 2 Some bulb sockets are worn out and therefore the bulbs may not always light when they should. I can usually get about 90+% of the bulbs working reliably. But there are usually a few that just won’t work every time. Either the socket is loose or rusty or bent or something. And it will work most of the time but not always. 3 I usually adjust a key contact on these pinballs so that they are “free play” as most owners want to just walk up and press start to play. If you want to operate this on coin operation, let me know and I will make sure coin mechs are included. But often the coin acceptance / credit counting assemblies on these games are messed up or not 100% reliable. I know – I operate a pinball museum with dozens of old pinballs on quarter play – and it’s tough to keep the quarter taking / credit counting mechanisms working reliably. But no one could do that. Even new out of the box, these things probably had a minor issue or two. It IS working 100% right now. This game is located in sunny, beautiful downtown McLean, IL 61754.
