Williams Banzai Run pinball machine. Banzai Run is a pinball machine from May 1988, manufactured by Williams Electronic Games, Inc. Magnetic ball lift that brings the ball to the vertical playfield in the backbox. Banzai Run was Pat Lawlor’s (the best ever designer) first playfield design. He would continue his successful career in the pinball design field with Williams and Midway designing games like Funhouse and Twilight Zone. Banzai Run, which uses a motocross theme, wasn’t initially designed as-is. The game officially started out using a construction theme, and was called “Wreck n’ Ball”. On the Banzai Run playfield, you’ll find a bunch of motocross racers battling for position. On their jersey’s you’ll find the names of the team members (John Krutsch, Pat Lawlor, Ed Boon, Mark Sprenger, and Brian Schmidt). The only pinball machine that has a full extra playfield in its backbox. This machine has just gone through a complete rebuild and cleaning. I have been doing this for 54 years and I did it as if I intended to keep this machine. Check out the box of parts replaced in the pictures. All six flippers were rebuilt as were the pop bumpers and slingshots. Normally this is not done but it really affects play! It has three new aftermarket boards. All the rubber is new. It plays just like new and is a very fun and challenging game! I have owned this pin for 15 years. The cabinet, legs and playfield are not perfect (normal for a 33 yr old game) but you can still get aftermarket replacements if desired. It has one light that is not lighting otherwise everything works well. Only 1750 total production in 1988. How many are still around? Ask for lift gate service.
