When I bought this machine, it was all original. If you’ve ever played a TZ in a dark or dim room, you know that it has very inadequate lighting and is impossible to play without lighting above the machine. So, I went to work on it. I replaced all the original incandescent bulbs with LED’s on the playfield and the back light. Then, after discovering that the playfield still needed more light in various areas, I fabricated and built custom LED features in key areas that resulted in a dazzling and beautifully lit playfield. You can play this machine in total darkness! Also, I added additional features including the Pyramid, Pop Bumpers “UFO” LED mods, marbles in the gumball machine that resemble real gumballs (in the original TZ machines, the gumball machine is empty), color changing/flashing LED’s inside the gumball machine, and the really cool TV that plays authentic Twilight Zone episodes with volume controlled audio via included external speakers! The TZ episodes begin automatically when the machine is powered up and play continuously even when the machine isn’t being played (really cool feature). I’m not sure how many episodes play in the loop, but it seems that there are two hours or more before it begins to repeat the loop. I also upgraded the computer with a home version EPROM chip which adds additional features and options to choose from in the settings. Included also are an almost full set of replacement rubber bumpers. Original Owners Manual included. The cabinet is in very good condition (9/10). There are no issues with the machine, no parts missing, and playfield shows virtually no wear. The rule set and game play is phenomenal for this machine. You’ll play it thousands of times and never get tired of it! The settings combinations are virtually infinite. This TZ machine is awesome. In fact, on the playfield there is an area dedicated to each of the four episodes: so one part is reserved for’Raiders of the Lost Ark’, one part for’Temple of Doom’, another one to’Last Crusade’ and finally one part dedicated to the lat title: “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. On the playfield there are a lot of typical elements that recall famous scenes from the Indiana Jones movies, such as the Holy Grail that characterized’The Last Crusade’, or a part of the’Temple of Doom’, and also the’Lost Ark’. The multiball that is linked to the las episode is a very intense moment of the game. The bonus linked to the’Temple of Doom’ can be activated by a mechanism in the central part of the playfield – is an area of the surface that is alternately rising and lowering, discovering a crack where the ball must enter, finding the right moment for it. Some scratches and marks on back of machine from storage. Game is completely gone through by Orange County Pinballs, a full service pinball shop. Game goes through a rigorous refurbishment process and service checklist by professional pinball technicians to make sure it is 100% fully operational and looks great! All electronic boards are inspected, serviced, repaired and any burnt connectors replaced. Fuses are checked and correct fuse values installed (safety issue to prevent damage to the game or a fire). Cabinet vacuumed, outside of cabinet cleaned and inspected for any issues. Playfield is stripped down and all plastics, ramps and mechanisms are cleaned and the playfield is polished. King Kool Pinball Machine Here is a 1972 Gottlieb King Kool pinball machine for your gaming pleasure. This pinball has been part of my collection for many years, but now it is time to make room for other projects. King Kool has a very interesting playfield with double spin targets and double flippers on each side, providing a lot of interesting angles and playfield features that makes this pinball machine a lot of fun to play. The playfield has always been waxed and is in outstanding condition for its age. The only marks you might see on the picture are a reflection of the lights. The playfield is nearly flawless. The only visible wear is on the spinners that have lost the “10” on the fronts. The cabinet has minor marks throughout. Some minor peeling on a very small section of the backglass. Please review all pictures for detail. The playfield works great with strong bumpers and flippers. The only functional issue with this game is that every now and then when starting a new game, the game begins to reset but then keeps resetting. When this happens, we usuallly turn the power off, turn power back on, and then it starts up fine. This happens maybe 1 out of 10 times you start a new game. The rest of the time, the pinball machine works flawlessly including all bumpers, flippers, scoring, sounds and game play. A video is available of King Kool in action.
