1972 Williams LINE DRIVE Baseball Machine Works Great! (Pick-Up in Indy)
1972 Williams LINE DRIVE baseball machine. Baseball machines like LINE DRIVE were once a summertime staple in every arcade, especially on the east and west coasts, but they’ve become nearly extinct in the last 45 years. LINE DRIVE was one of the last EM (electromechanical) baseball games produced, and it included the popular “base running men” in the backbox. This backbox animation makes the game almost as much fun to watch as it is to play. This game is in very good condition overall. All of the parts on the machine are original, down to the manual and schematic which are included with the game – there are no reproduction parts here. The backglass is in very good condition, although the red paint has flaked off a bit, as it has on many of these games. New reproduction backglasses are available from several sources. The playfield is in good condition overall. There’s a bit of wear around the batting area, although again, that’s a result of nearly a half century of normal use. The game uses a solid state sound system which includes cheers, clapping, and even boos, and the sound system operates as it should. The cabinet is in very good condition for its age, with a few scuffs on both sides of the cabinet but no graffiti or gouges. All locks and keys are present. Manual and schematic are included. A couple of trivia facts. This is the same LINE DRIVE machine that is pictured on the cover of the 1990 book Slot Machines & Coin-Op Games. And if LINE DRIVE looks familiar to you, there’s a LINE DRIVE game which is often seen in the background (and sometimes in the foreground) of the TV show Pawn Stars. 1977 Bally EIGHT BALL pinball machine shopped works plays great! FREE SHIPPING
This pinball machine is in good, fully working, fully shopped condition. See my standard text below to see what “fully Shopped” means to me. The game really plays VERY well and looks amazing. The flippers are nice and strong. After installing a new Lamp Driver Board, I changed all bulbs to LEDs. And not cheap chinese LEDs – I get only the best from Cointaker. I have tediously gone over every computer board in this game and resoldered all connectors, cleaned all the female connectors. The power supply has been gone over carefully and is in perfect working condition. Every single light bulb, switch, coil, display segment, etc is working correctly. I also spent most of a day replacing the majority of the lamp sockets under the playfield because they were frankly just worn out and flaky. This is a somewhat typical problem on Ballys from the 1970s. So there may still be some minor flakiness in the lamps, it is minimal. New sockets basically fix the problem. Plus the new Altek LDB board and new LEDs help. There are a few little burns in some of the displays, which is totally common and to be expected in these 40 year old Ballys. Still fully working and not bad or hard to read or anything. Just a sign of originality and age. You can replace the displays with new LED replacements if you want. I don’t like them because I appreciate the originality of these antique neon displays. Eight Ball is really a well designed game that is quite fun to play. Proof of this is that it is the SECOND MOST produced pinball machine in history, behind Addams Family. It was a real hit and continues to be. Here is a short movie I took just showing that it’s fully working. Let me know if you want more pictures – I can send you a link. They won’t let me put the link in the listing for some reason. CONDITION and RATINGS for THIS SPECIFIC MACHINE. Good condition, but probably about average cosmetic condition. Eight Balls got a LOT of play, and it’s pretty hard to find one that doesn’t have a lot of paint worn on the playfield and cabinet. The plastics, however, are just about perfect. I bought new bumper caps for it. Backglass is almost perfect. The coin door is in good condition and is fully working with coin mechs and a new lock. The cabinet looks pretty interesting. I touched up the black and orange paint, but left the wear on the white because I personally think it adds a really cool vintage patina to the game. If you need any more pictures or have any questions, please let me know – I’m happy to answer. COIN DOOR: 7.5/10. STANDARD GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SOLID STATE PINBALL SHOPPING. When we shop a solid state pinball, here is what that includes. 1 Removed most everything from the playfield. 2 Clean, wax, and polish entire playing surface. 3 Replace all above-playfield light bulbs with new LED bulbs. 4 Replace all below-playfield light bulbs with new LED matching colored bulbs. 5 Replace all rubbers with new ones. 6 Re-install all above playfield plastics and hardware after thorough cleaning. 7 Remove backglass, replace all bulbs with LEDs, clean displays. 8 Make sure all features of pinball are working properly. 9 Scrub, clean, and touch up cabinet to the best of our limited ability. 10 Install new lock on front door. 11 Install new ball(s). There are probably a few other things we do, but that’s the gist of it. This game is located in sunny, beautiful downtown McLean, IL 61754. We have over 140 playable games and luxurious arcade-themed lodging options. Contact me for more details or look for hotel Arcadia on airbnb. They will bring it right inside your house (ground floor only). This is for the 48 contiguous United States only. In some rare cases possibly longer. What I CAN guarantee is that if you pick the game up, or if not when the game leaves my hands, it will be exactly as described and photoed above. 1979 Atari Full-Size Pinball Machine Superman Great Cond. Works Orig Lights
Original 1979 Atari Full-Size Working Pinball Machine – Superman Great Condition, Original Lights, has previously been serviced, once moved and set-up should be serviced again. Legs can be removed for transport. NOTE – photo images of flyer, instruction manual and brochure are here for informational purposes only, are not included with the machine. SupermanPinball machine released in 1979. Type: Atari Pinball Machine Title: Superman Produced by: Atari Inc. Date: March 1979 Description: 1 to 4 player action. New Space Age sounds. Replay or add-a-ball, 3 or 5 ball. Superman was released by Atari inMarch of 1979 and designed by Steve Ritchie. Part of the “Golden Age”of pinball. The plunger sends the ball to the top rollover lanes, getting 1, 2 & 3doubles bonus, adding lane 4 triples bonus. Each rollover adds to the bonus itself. Three pop bumpers are directly below the rollover lanes. Bumpers score 100 or1000 when lit. Only one or two are lit at the same time. Below the pop bumpersthere are 5 drop targets. Hitting the one that is lit awards more points. Shotsoff the drop targets can easily bounce into the right out lane, you have to bevery careful. The right side has a lane called “Luthor’s Lair” with a”Luthor” spinner at the bottom. The right side has a similar lanecalled the “Fortress of Solitude” with a “Superman” spinnerand a little loop at the top before it feeds the in lanes. Between the”Fortress of Solitude” and the pop bumpers there is a small lane thatleads to a kick-out. It awards points, an extra ball or special depending onhow many sets of drop targets are completed. Below the “Fortress of Solitude” is a pop bumper over the left outlane. White stand up targets and the return lanes near the flippers spellSUPERMAN for 30,000 points. You have several objectives. Get the in lanes to double and triple the bonus. Get the drop targets to up the value of the kick out. Hit targets and lanes to spell SUPERMAN. Reach score targets or awards for extra ball. A great game by Steve Ritchie. It is one of his first pinball designs. Steve actually had backgroundsound wired up to play in Superman but Atari management were notinterested. When Steve when to work at Williams he put that feature intoFlash which was his first pinball game at the company. Although Atari pinball machines havescore displays in the back all of the electronics were in the bottom on thecabinet. It has great artwork job whichis something that Atari was known for in their arcade line. The playfield layout is a good for a firstattempt. The side artwork features aflying Superman. The start button was also used on many Atari arcadegames. Eugene Jarvis and I will consult onthe quantity of Atari’s Superman Pinballs that were produced. I think it was3,000, but Eugene might remember a different quantity. It might have as high as5,000…… Eugene wrote all the sounds for Superman and one of his amazing programs thatcreated some sounds by introducing bugs to the program. He later createdG-wave, an incredible breakthrough at the time. Recording music and sound onsilicon was not an option in 1977. Eugene and I worked together on Superman for what seemed like years. It mighthave been 13 months or so. I stumbled through many whitewoods, but ultimately, it played nice for it’s time. I brought my Echoplex (a guitar player’s tape loop mechanical echo chamber onthe cheap) to work, and connected it to our Superman. The continuous backgroundsound that emanated intrigued us. Atari management refused to let us apply this fun discovery, which made the playerfeel more a part of the pinball game, and added progressive adrenaline to anypinball as the game progressed. Why didn’t management feel what we felt? I left Atari to make pinball machines at Williams before Superman wasmanufactured, and applied the background sound concept to Flash, which was alsothe first game to use Flash Lamps, (that’s how they got their name) and a3rd-flipper-repeatable loop shot. I was also a lot happier working at Williams, happiness being an important ingredient that enables a. Tocreate to his/her potential.
