This game works great. We have fully shopped it and replaced all of the rubber bands with new ones. We have also replaced all of the light bulbs with new Cointaker LEDs (the best you can get). Every single bulb, switch, coil, target, display segment, sound effect, voice, etc is working great. We replaced the MPU board with a new Alltek MPU. The lamp driver board is new. The sound board has been rebuilt and has new sound potentiometers. The main volume knob is a new potentiometer. The old fluorescent fixture that used to be in the head to light the glass has been replaced with a new LED one. Those tiny baby fluorescent fixtures and bulbs are so fragile that it’s rare to find one still working that doesn’t have the bulb holders cracked and broken. So this will last forever. All of the PCBS in this game have had the connector headers reflowed with fresh solder to ensure good connections. The game has a new ball and lock. The quarter coin mechs work so you can use it as a piggy bank if you wish. Also, although I’ve alluded to it above, I just want to reiterate that the squawk and talk sound board is working perfectly on this game. That is a weak point on this era bally, and this one is perfect with the new caps and sound pots – all the sounds work flawlessly without distortion. This game actually plays really well. The fact that it is so worn and has clearly seen so much use is actually a good sign if you’re looking for a good, reliable, nice-playing game. This one has clearly been a workhorse and after everything I have done to it, it should continue to be a workhorse for years to come. Here is a video I took showing that the game is fully working. CONDITION and RATINGS for THIS SPECIFIC MACHINE. The physical / cosmetic condition of this game is really it’s main weak point. The playfield is about as worn as a playfield can get. It appears that at some prior point in life, someone decided to repaint the playfield to replace all of the paint that had worn off the playfield art. They did a better job that I could have, but not as good as an artist could do. It looks pretty obvious that someone touched up the paint. But it is probably better than having all that bare wood showing. They also installed a good mylar protection layer after painting it so at least it is not going to wear further and their work is protected. Most of the playfield plastics are perfect, but there are several that have a corner broken off or some other flaw. The giant plastic that covers the in-line drop targets has an interesting situation. A big portion of that plastic was broken off, and I had another just like it that had a different section broken off. So I cut them both along a line and installed one on top of the other so now the entire plastic is complete with artwork, but there is a section where the two different plastics overlap. Now that is American ingenuity! All of the drop targets are present and fully working. But a few of them do not have the right artwork on them. I believe the 2x and 4x targets have the wrong art on them. To be honest, I thought about doing it and decided that with the rest of the game in the condition it’s in, new shiny white targets would stand out and make the rest look worse rather than making the game look better. The cabinet is in decent condition, but has a few flaws. First and foremost, the rear right bottom corner of the game must have gotten weak at some point in the past, because someone has glued / installed a 2 x 8 in the back corner of the cabinet to solidify whatever was happening. This was a very well executed repair and the game is perfectly solid and strong. But the bolts for that back right leg have to be 2 inches longer than the others to go through the added 2 x 8. Otherwise, the cabinet is pretty nice and solid and the artwork is mostly in great shape and intact. There has been a little touch up in some areas but it was very well done and looks just great. The coin door is in very nice condition and has working coin mechs in it. New LED bulbs to light the coin slots, and a new lock. Also includes an original Bally coin box. The backglass looks near perfect from the front. But if you look closely or remove it, you will notice that the paint is starting to separate and peel away along the bottom edge of the glass. It has not yet gotten bad to where you really notice from standing at the game. Hopefully it will not get any worse in the next 40 years than it did in its first 40 years. So in summary, this game is not going to win any awards at a pinball show for its condition. But it sure does play great and it sure is a great game. In my opinion (and many other peoples’ opinions) this is one of the best single-ball pinball machines every designed and built. The rules are just great. The shots are great. The design is great. The artwork is great. The sound effects and speech are great. It is a game that continues to be fun to play forever. I was addicted to this game in college, then after graduating. And even now I can’t resist playing it every time I get a chance. In fact, it is the one game my DAD wanted in his house, out of the thousands I have owned. So I gave him an 8 ball deluxe for Christmas one year and it remained in his basement for decades and he never wanted to swap it or get rid of it. If you need any more pictures or have any questions, please let me know – I’m happy to answer. COIN DOOR: 7.5/10. STANDARD GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF SOLID STATE PINBALL SHOPPING.
