The third game in the Bally billiard trilogy… Most people have heard of Eight Ball and Eight Ball Deluxe, but few have ever heard of or seen this rare Bally title. Due to the huge success of their earlier “Eight Ball” games and a demand for simpler single-level games in a time inundated by ramps and multi-ball playfields, Bally created a special project to bring back fans of their old-school layouts. There were only 1,500 Eight Ball Champ games produced and the majority of those machines were exported out of the United States for the European market. Eight Ball Champ took the best of the first two games in the series and combined them into one heck of a classic players machine! This game has the difficulty of Eight Ball via varied shots required to sink a rack along with the drop-target style gameplay and speech borrowed from Eight Ball Deluxe. Are you ready for an original vintage pinball collector piece? Here’s your chance to own a piece of pinball history! You’ll love all of the speech and background sound effects in this game as you are instructed to “Get the Five Ball” or “Get the Eight Ball”, or Too Bad, You Scratched! Try to drop the targets to complete your rack of balls, then go for the 8-ball at the top saucer. For each rack you can run, your end-ball bonus goes higher and higher! Behind the drop-targets are stationary targets that spell out the word E-I-G-H-T. Complete those targets and you will be awarded an EXTRA BALL. Do it again and you’ll get a SPECIAL! After that the game will alternate between those two awards. It’s TOUGH to complete those targets! Another notable feature are the C-H-A-M-P rollovers. Complete those and the playfield scores are DOUBLED! Do it again and they are TRIPLED! This game has all of the classic Bally features such as drop-targets, pop-bumpers, roll-overs, slingshots, standing targets, kick-out holes and more. The feature package on this game is so fantastic, that I can personally play this machine for hours at a time. It is incredibly tough to beat! If I could own only a few pinball machines, Eight Ball Champ would be the one of them! The classic and family-friendly theme goes great in any home gameroom! This Eight Ball Champ game is not only rare because of the low production, but it’s also rare due to the FABULOUS all-around condition! The playfield is outstanding with only modest wear and the original Bally tuff-coat still shines. The playfield plastics are excellent with no chips and very few imperfections. The pop-bumper caps, lane guides, post caps, spinner and stationary target artwork have all been replaced. The backglass is a beautiful condition original silk-screened glass. The cabinet artwork is in great condition with minor blemishes, modest color fade and some touch-up. This game looks absolutely beautiful in person and she plays lightning fast just like she did in 1985!
